Performances, Speakers and Camping!

Hey everyone!

Did you know that we've already confirmed a couple musical acts for our conference?

Nathan Moore will be performing on Saturday night at Memorial Hall, free to all conference attendees!  http://www.nathanmoore.org

The Native Sway have also confirmed a Saturday night performance (location TBA)!  This band from Boone, NC will get you moving on your feet with their funky, eclectic beats during their late night show.  Check em out!  http://www.myspace.com/thenativesway

We also have a few very exciting speakers to announce!

Mark Chilton, the Mayor of Carrboro, NC will be leading a workshop called "A Seat at the Table: Running for Local Elected Office", in which he will explain how to run for local office as a grassroots environmental candidate, change the terms of the local debate, and win!  As a senior at UNC Chapel Hill, Mark became the youngest elected offiicial in North Carolina when he successfully ran for Town Council in 1991.

We will also be joined by:

Jordan Treakle, Southeast Regional Coordinator of the Real Food Challenge

Ned Ryan Doyle, Host and Producer, "Our Southern Community" Radio Show

Mary Olson, Nuclear Information and Resource Service

Betty Robinson, Carolina Clean Air Coalition

And many, many more!

We are still looking for speakers and students to run workshops, participate in panel discussions and deliver keynote speeches!  Please contact Carly Queen carlyqueen218@gmail.com ASAP if you have any suggestions, contacts or interest in participating yourself!

Lastly, for all you outdoors folk, we have secured camping space just 20 minutes south of Chapel Hill at Shakori Hills.  This is a beautiful space brimming with possibilities for late night fun, including live performances and group activities (and meals)!  It's just one option for housing...  more to come!  http://www.shakorihills.org

Peace, Carly
